Last week we shared the core values, common specifications and application scope of Quick-Opening Closure. In this issue, we will continue to share its manufacturing process.
Quick-Opening Closure is a key quick-opening and closing part in pressure vessels and piping systems. Its production must follow standardized procedures, with strict control over machining accuracy and product quality, while meeting pressure resistance, structural strength and safety protection requirements. We will explain the specific manufacturing process and key quality control points in two parts.
Part One: What is the core manufacturing process of Quick-Opening Closure?
1. Drawing Design and Process Finalization
Based on key working parameters (including pressure class, operating temperature, medium properties and nominal diameter), we complete the overall structural design, determine the locking structure, sealing type and material selection. At the same time, we draw production drawings, compile process documents and design supporting safety interlock mechanisms. All design contents comply with industry standards to ensure the intrinsic safety of equipment from the source.
2. Raw Material Cutting and Rough Forming of Parts
We strictly select qualified steel plates and forgings that meet national /International standards, and verify quality certification documents when raw materials enter the factory. Through CNC cutting, forging, rolling and other processes, we complete rough machining of core parts such as the cylinder, closure cover, locking ring and clamp. We strictly control dimensional accuracy and maintain the mechanical properties of raw materials, laying a solid foundation for subsequent fine machining.
3. High-Precision Mechanical Finishing
Using CNC lathes, milling machines, grinders and other equipment, we carry out precise machining on sealing surfaces, locking fitting surfaces and hinged parts. Key accuracy such as sealing surface flatness and part fitting clearance are strictly controlled to ensure smooth opening and closing of the closure, tight sealing and no risk of leakage.
4. Welding and Heat Treatment for Stress Relief
According to material and pressure requirements, we select appropriate welding processes such as argon arc welding and submerged arc welding. After welding, full RT, UT and MT non-destructive testing is carried out to eliminate welding defects such as porosity, slag inclusion and incomplete penetration. Meanwhile, heat treatment including annealing, normalizing and quenching-tempering is performed based on material characteristics to remove internal stress in parts.
5. Part Assembly and Interlock Testing
We assemble the locking mechanism, safety interlock device, operating handle or driving device. Each unit is tested for interlock sensitivity, with key verification of functions such as pressure locking and full-lock warning, to ensure normal interlock logic without failure or compromise.
6. Pressure Testing and Finished Product Inspection
We test the sealing performance and pressure resistance of products in accordance with industry standards. After passing the tests, we apply anti-corrosion coating, mark product specifications, pressure parameters, warning signs and factory serial numbers, and organize a complete set of qualified documents.
Part Two: What are the key quality control points in the production of Quick-Opening Closure?
1. Raw Material Control
All incoming raw materials must be accompanied by original factory quality certificates and material inspection reports. Inferior, non-standard and substandard materials are strictly prohibited from entering production.
2. Sealing Surface Accuracy Control
Sealing surfaces must be free of scratches, porosity, slag inclusions, unevenness and other defects. Surface roughness meets general industry accuracy standards to ensure full fitting between gaskets and sealing surfaces, fundamentally preventing medium leakage.
3. Mandatory Safety Interlock Requirements
Safety interlock mechanisms are essential equipment, providing dual safety protection: "cannot be opened under pressure" and "no pressure supply unless securely locked".
4. Standard Compliance and Documentation
Each product is delivered with a certificate of conformity, test report and non-destructive testing report. Production and testing processes comply with relevant standards such as ASME, ensuring full traceability.
Quick-Opening Closure is used in petroleum pipelines and other fields, so its manufacturing requirements and tolerances must be strictly controlled. As a manufacturer, in addition to meeting the above requirements, we also need to satisfy customer needs in terms of quality and warranty.
